Denton Woman Indicted in Daughter's Death

Posted:

DENTON, Md.- A grand jury on Wednesday indicted a 29-year-old Denton woman for second-degree murder, manslaughter and child neglect in connection with the April drowning death of her 2-year-old daughter.

During her initial appearance Friday in Caroline County Circuit, Kelly Aileen Blackiston was ordered held in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Authorities said that on April 2, a neighbor found Blackiston's toddler unresponsive in the swimming pool of Blackiston's home. The child was taken to Memorial Hospital in Easton where she was pronounced dead.

A trial date for Blackiston has not yet been set, according to Caroline County State's Attorney Jonathan G. Newell, whose office is prosecuting the case.
