Md. Man Arrested for Assaulting Deputy

NEWARK, Md.– The Worcester County Sheriff's Office says a Bel-Air man is facing assault and related charges following a violent confrontation with a deputy in Newark. 

According to police, a deputy was called to Goody Hill Road at Route 113 to investigate a report that 18-year-old Thomas Honaker was passed out there. According to investigators, Honaker ran from the deputy and tried to enter a bystander's vehicle before he assaulted and kicked the officer.

Honaker was arrested and charged with second-degree assault, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct. He has been released pending trial.
