Gaston E. Rocha
MILFORD, Del.- A Milford man is behind bars following allegations that he tried to sexually assault a 3-year-old boy.
Gaston E. Rocha, 18, is charged with first-degree attempted rape, unlawful sexual contact, second-degree burglary, endangering the welfare of a child and indecent exposure.
Milford police said Rocha's arrest stemmed from an investigation into an incident that allegedly occurred Saturday, June 9. According to police, shortly after 3 a.m. Rocha entered a home on Montgomery Street and began to inappropriately touch the 3-year-old victim. Investigators said that is when a 51-year-old male resident of the home awakened and began to struggle with Rocha. Rocha then fled the home and was gone by the time officers arrived on the scene, according to police.
A short time later, officers discovered Rocha's identity and took him into custody at a home on Cedarwood Avenue in Milford.
Police said Rocha was not known to either the 3-year-old victim or the 51-year-old victim prior to the incident.
Following his arrest on the aforementioned charges, Rocha was ordered held in the Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $63,000 secured bond. He was also issued a no contact order with the victims, police said.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 14 at the Sussex County Court of Common Pleas.
