Metallica Helps FBI in Trying to Catch Va. Killer

Posted:

WASHINGTON (AP) - The band Metallica is participating in a publicity campaign aimed at catching a man wanted in the death of a Virginia Tech student who disappeared after one of their concerts.

The FBI and Virginia State Police announced the multi-media campaign Wednesday, which includes a public service announcement recorded by Metallica lead singer James Hetfield.

Morgan Harrington went missing after an October 2009 Metallica concert in Charlottesville, Va. Her remains were found in January 2010 in a hayfield. The FBI says the suspect has been forensically linked to a 2005 sexual assault in Fairfax County, and the FBI last week revised its composite sketch of the man.
