Single-Vehicle Crash in Cheswold Sends Man to Hospital

Updated:

CHESWOLD, Del.– A single-vehicle crash that occurred a half-mile south of Twin Willows Road in Cheswold sent one man to the hospital on Thursday morning.

Delaware State Police said that at around 7:45 a.m. troopers responded to calls that a vehicle had overturned in the median.

Authorities said Christopher B. Hill, 34, of Bear, Del., was driving a 1981 International 4x4 truck south on SR1 when one of the tires blew out. The vehicle then reportedly traveled across two other southbound lanes before rolling over in the median strip, eventually landing upright.

Officials said Hill, who was properly restrained by a seatbelt, was taken to Kent General Hospital where he was treated and released. He was cited for unreasonable speed and failure to have insurance in possession.

Police said southbound traffic on SR1 was affected for approximately one hour by the accident.
