FELTON, Del.- On Thursday, about 120 children at Killens Pond State Park in Felton learned about staying safe in the water, while setting a Guinness World Record for the "World's Largest Swimming Lesson," with the help of a national organization that promotes water safety.
A swimming lesson can save a life and at the pool the kids learned just that. Killens Pond State Park Manager Darren Lawson said, "Between the ages of 1 and 14, right now, statistically drowning's are number two for deaths, so we want to get that word out there and get them in local swim clubs."
Lawson encourages children to swim near lifeguards at pools and the beaches and always swim with a buddy.
