3 Pedestrians Killed on Va. Highway


PAMPLIN, Va. (AP) - Virginia state police say three pedestrians have died after being struck by a car in Prince Edward County.

State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller says the crash occurred Saturday night on U.S. Business Route 460 near Pamplin.

Geller says the three men were pronounced dead at the scene and State Police are investigating why they were standing in the road.

The men are identified as 20-year-old Kevin A. Burrell of Richmond, 40-year-old Arthur C. Wheeler of Pamplin and his nephew, 22-year-old Eric J. Wheeler of Lynchburg.

The driver and a passenger in the car were taken to hospitals for treatment of injuries.

No charges were immediately filed.
