Paving Work on Eastbound Route 50 Gets Under Way

Updated:

SALISBURY, Md.– One and a half miles of eastbound Route 50, stretching from Rockawalkin Road to the western end of the Salisbury Bypass in Salisbury, will undergo paving starting on Tuesday.

The State Highway Administration will be paving the road and is scheduled to finish by late June, weather permitting. A single lane will be closed as needed Mondays through Thursdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Construction will not take place on Fridays due to traffic.

According to the SHA, more than 40,000 vehicles drive on this road each day, and the project is an attempt to prolong its life. Drivers will be directed by arrows and safety cones during construction.

The SHA is advising drivers to remain alert and look out for reduced speed limits and narrow driving lanes in order to prevent accidents. They are also encouraged not to follow other vehicles too closely in case of a sudden stop.

More traffic information is available by phone by calling 511 or online at www.md511.org.
