List of Cooling Centers Open on Delmarva

With temperatures in the 90s expected the rest of this week, several cooling stations will be opened across Delmarva where residents can go to escape the heat.

Below is a list of cooling stations that are open or will be open during the current heat wave. Please note that counties not featured in the below list or counties already on the list with updates and/or corrections are requested to email WBOC with details about their cooling stations at news@wboc.com. WBOC will then update the list accordingly.

Sussex County paramedics will make routine stops at these locations, as time permits, to answer any heat-related questions and/or concerns. Also, free, individual servings of bottled water will be available at the County Administration Building ONLY to help the public cool off from the heat.

When visiting a relief station, bring any medications and/or specialty items that you need.

Wicomico County, Md.

Wicomico County Youth & Civic Center

Open from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday, July 19, through Saturday, July 20. No pets will be permitted. Residents will need to bring their own food, beverages, and medications.

MAC Senior Center, for persons over the age of 50
909 Progress Circle, Suite 200
Salisbury, MD

Open until 8 p.m. Friday, July 19. the MAC Senior Center will not be opened as a cooling center on Saturday, July 20.

Anyone needing free transportation to the Civic Center or the MAC Senior Center should call Shore Transit at (443) 260-2300.

Worcester County, Md.

The Worcester County Commission on Aging will have the Snow Hill Senior Center open as a cooling center on Friday, July 19, and Saturday, July 20, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. This cooling center is for adults 55 and older.
