








Salisbury, Md. – Two former Shorebirds standouts, Dylan Bundy and Manny Machado
were selected to the 2012 Sirius XM All-Star Futures Game on Thursday.
The Futures Game, a showcase of the top American minor league prospects
against the top international prospects, will be played on July 8 in Kansas City.
Bundy,
19, steamrolled through the South Atlantic League in 2012. In eight
starts, Bundy went 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA over 30 innings pitched. He
yielded just five total hits and struck out 40 batters. The SAL batted
.053 against Bundy, who was named the Orioles Minor League Pitcher of
the Month in April.
The Owasso, Oklahoma native was promoted to Frederick on May 25. In four starts in the Carolina League, Bundy is 2-2 with a 4.34 ERA. In 18.2 innings pitched, he has 23 strikeouts.
Machado,
19, was a South Atlantic League all-star shortstop in 2011 for the
Shorebirds. He is making his second trip to the Futures Game after
being selected to play in the game last season. Machado batted .276 in
38 games for the Shorebirds in 2011. He blasted six home runs and
totaled 24 runs-batted-in during his short stint before the all-star
break.
In 68 games with Double-A Bowie this season, Machado is hitting .249 with four home runs and 28 RBIs.
The
Futures Game rosters include 31 players rated in the top 100 prospects
according to MLB.com. Bundy and Machado are both ranked amongst the top
ten prospects in the minor leagues according to MLB.com.
