Marcus Dashawn Butler
CAMBRIDGE, Md.- Police on Friday arrested a third suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of a Salisbury man in Cambridge earlier this week.
Cambridge police took 19-year-old Marcus Dashawn Butler of Cambridge into custody on the charges of first- and second-degree murder, armed robbery, attempted robbery, first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, handgun on person and firearm use during a felony/violent crime. He is being held without bond in the Dorchester County Detention Center.
Butler's arrest came a day after police announced the arrests of 19-year-old Glen Dewitt Wilson and 20-year old Brandon Jamar Sampson both of Cambridge, on the charges of first-degree murder, first-degree armed robbery, first-degree attempted robbery and first- and second-degree assault. Both are also being held without bond in the county detention center.
The three arrests stem from the Monday fatal shooting of 21-year-old La'Bryan Deonte Jones. According to police, at around 10 p.m. that evening, officers responded to a shooting that had occurred in the area of Park Lane and Willis Street. When officers arrived on the scene, they found the Jones suffering from a single gunshot wound to the head.
Jones received treatment from officers before he was transported to Dorchester General Hospital. He was treated and stabilized at Dorchester General before being transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for further treatment. At approximately 3:31 a.m. Tuesday, while en route to Shock Trauma, Jones succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The investigation into this incident is continuing and police said more arrests are expected. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cambridge Police Criminal Investigation Division at (410) 228-3333.
