WEST DEPTFORD, NJ – June 23, 2012 - Jeremy Maclin, Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver and West Deptford, New Jersey resident, is hosting his inaugural youth football camp June 25 - 27 at RiverWinds Community Center in West Deptford, NJ. Children can register for camp at www.jeremymaclinfootballcamp.com.
"I always dreamed about being in the NFL," Maclin said. "I knew that those junior football league practices and extra work in the summer would pay off in some way and I want kids to realize by staying strong they can also realize their dream."
Each day the camp will last from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Campers will receive instruction daily from Maclin, his Eagles teammates, and his other NFL friends, including Sean Weatherspoon of the Atlanta Falcons and Danario Alexander of the St. Louis Rams. Maclin will instruct from a football fundamentals perspective while emphasizing fun and the necessity of education, discipline, and leadership.
The camp will benefit the Jeremy Maclin Foundation, a non-profit started by Jeremy to assist youth and families forced into alternative living situations. Additional proceeds will be used to support youth football organizations and back-to-school programs. With the help of sponsorships from companies such as Modell's and Penn Capital Management, Maclin plans to give away over 100 scholarships for the camp to children in financial need. Special rates for groups and families are available.
Maclin hopes that each camper will leave believing they have improved as a football player and as a person. Maclin hopes to add to his previous charitable efforts in Philadelphia and New Jersey by assisting more children in need and by giving more back to youth football programs.
"We hope to inspire the kids to follow their dreams and put in the work necessary to have them become a reality. They may not have had the easiest path to get there but dreams come true with hard work and by surrounding yourself with good people. I am a living example of that," Maclin said.
Jeremy Maclin was selected 19th overall by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2009. He will be entering his 4th season as a starting wide receiver for the Eagles. Visit www.jeremymaclinfootballcamp.com for more information on sponsoring, scholarships and group and family rates.
