FRUITLAND, Md.- Police have identified a woman who was struck and killed by a car Tuesday night near Fruitland.

The Worcester County's Sheriff's Office identified the victim as 46-year-old Rodina Attaya of Foxchase Drive in Salisbury.

Investigators said that at around 8 p.m., Attaya and another person were walking west on St. Lukes Road toward Stevens Road. According to police, a Chevrolet truck that was also traveling west struck Attaya from behind, sending Attaya into a field. She was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury where she was pronounced dead.

Police do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
