1 Killed, 2 Injured in Frankford Crash

Updated:

FRANKFORD, Del.— Delaware State Police are investigating an automobile crash in Frankford that killed one person and left two others injured Tuesday afternoon.

Troopers said that at around 3:15 p.m., 65-year-old John W. Abbott of Ocean View, Del., was driving a Ford F-150 pickup eastbound on Roxanna Road. Police said Abbott initially stopped for the posted stop sign at the intersection of Powell Farm Road, but his vehicle failed to remain stopped.

According to investigators, Abbott's truck entered the intersection into the path of a southbound 2005 Dodge Caravan driven by 41-year-old Marie S. Celtrick of Hendersonville, N.C., and was hit on the driver's side by the front of the Caravan. Abbott was transported to Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, Md., where he was pronounced dead.

Celtrick and her passenger, 8-year-old Octavia Celtrick of Hendersonville, N.C., were transported to Beebe Hospital in Lewes where they were treated and released.

Police said a preliminary investigation indicates that all occupants were properly restrained at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
