Elderly Man Beaten and Robbed Near Bridgeville

BRIDGEVILLE, Del.- Delaware State Police are looking for two suspects wanted for assaulting and robbing a 70-year-old man east of Bridgeville late Tuesday evening.

Troopers said the victim was inside his home on the 20000 block of Coverdale Road when he heard knocking at the front door at around 10:35 p.m. When the victim opened the door, an unknown man allegedly requested assistance with a disabled vehicle. According to investigators, the victim went outside to the front of his house to offer assistance when he was confronted by another man armed with a handgun.

Police said both suspects assaulted the victim and one of them struck the victim in the head and face with the handgun, forced him to the ground, and rifled through the pockets of his pants. Troopers said the suspects then forced the victim back into his house where they rummaged through various rooms. The suspects grabbed an undisclosed amount of money and ran away in an unknown direction, according to police.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for multiple injuries and released.

Police described the first suspect as a black male, 20-30 years of age, and between 5-foot-10 and 6-foot-tall. He was last seen wearing dark clothing and armed with an unknown type of handgun. Police described the second suspect as a black male between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-8. He was last seen wearing dark clothing.
