SALISBURY, Md. - Zookeepers at the Salisbury Zoo are ready for rising temperatures. They have misters set up in  different animal habitats, and are freezing blocks of ice with fish and fruit for the animals.

Zookeeper Sherry Barlet gave smaller treats, like frozen fruit cocktails and frozen meat patties, to the monkeys and otters on Friday afternoon.

"Kind of like how we would get a popsicle and go in the shade, it's kind of what they're doing," Barlet said.

"As the temperature goes up and gets into the 90s, we certainly keep a closer eye on the animals," said Salisbury Zoo Director Joel Hamilton.
