REHOBOTH, Del.— Rehoboth Beach police on Sunday arrested a Laurel man accused of stealing the belongings of guests staying at the hotel where he worked.

Police said that throughout the month of June, 20-year-old Jason L. Pettyjohn stole items belonging to guests staying at Brighton Suites Hotel on Wilmington Ave., where Pettyjohn was employed as a housekeeper.

Investigators said several employees at the location saw Pettyjohn looking in guests' luggage and clothing. According to authorities, a total of five victims reported items including cash, jewelry, and clothing had been stolen from their hotel rooms that Pettyjohn was responsible for cleaning.

Pettyjohn was charged with five counts of theft under $1,500 and released on $5,000 unsecured bond pending a hearing in the Court of Common Pleas in Georgetown.

Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Rehoboth Beach Police Department at (302) 227-2577.
