Four Sent to Hospital After Serious Sussex County Crash

BRIDGEVILLE, Del.- Delaware State Police are investigating a crash that sent four people to the hospital in Sussex County.

Troopers said the accident happened around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday evening on Progress School Road at the intersection of Dublin Hill Road near Bridgeville. Police said the driver of a Ford F-150 pickup truck, 51-year-old Howard McIntire of Bridgeville, failed to stop at the stop sign and continued north. According to police, a car then hit the driver's side of McIntire's pickup, sending the truck into a field where it came to a stop.

Troopers said McIntire, who was was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md., where he was admitted in critical condition.

The driver of the car, 51-year-old Sabrina Fletcher of Federalsburg, Md., was taken along with her two grandchildren to Milford Memorial Hospital where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released.

Fletcher was cited by police with improper child restraints.

Troopers closed Progress School and Dublin Hill roads for two and a half hours while they investigated and cleared the scene.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and charges are pending in connection with the crash
