CAMBRIDGE, Md.- Everywhere you look you will find air conditioning units and fans running non-stop in house windows. Some say those are not your only options for keeping cool.
Ruby Badger of North Carolina is visiting her daughter in Easton, Md., and said beating the heat is their main priority.
"Her house is hot so we are here to try to buy some cool stuff to try and cool her house down," said Badger said.
Badger's daughter already uses air conditioners and fans, but she said there are better cost efficient ways to live comfortably.
"She does not have the blinds now and the sun just beats through the windows so it's just really hot in there," Badger said. "She has a porch that I know is over 100 and she has three air conditioners running and it's just running her electrical bill up so we are trying to find some stuff to keep her house cool."
Kim Blue of Greensboro was out shopping for some essentials. She says she does not mind the heat, but the key is knowing how to deal with it.
"Lots of water, Gatorade, sun screen, lots of sunscreen fruit and just things that are refreshing to the body," Blue said.
