BRIDGEVILLE, Del.- Farmers say high temperatures are prompting crops like peaches to mature too quickly, which they say could hurt their bottom line.

Matthew Smith, a co-owner of the TS Smith and Sons Farm in Bridgeville, said his farm has several varieties of peaches so they can continually harvest during the summer. Smith said because of scorching temperatures, more varieties are ripening at the same time-- resulting in excess peaches and likely a shorter peach season.

"Labor will be a challenge to find enough help to be able to pick it all, to have enough containers to hold all the peaches, and to be able to store it of course," Smith said. "You certainly have the potential to lose some of your harvest."
