UPDATE: Police, Armed Man Exchange Gunfire in College Park

Updated:

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) - A man accused of leading police on a chase in a stolen cruiser near the University of Maryland campus in College Park remains hospitalized after being shot and wounded by officers.

Prince George's County police have identified the man as Andre McKoy and say he exchanged gunfire with the officers.

Authorities say McKoy fired at an officer and stole a patrol car after police responded to a 911 call from his mother indicating that he was armed and high on PCP.

Officers used stun guns in an effort to subdue him.

Police spokeswoman Julie Parker says in a Twitter post that McKoy is facing charges of attempted murder of a police officer and assault and weapons offenses. She says his condition has been upgraded to good.
