NANTICOKE, Md. – An Eden man is behind bars following accusations that he used a victim's stolen credit cards at stores in Salisbury.
Michael W. Carey, 33, is charged with rogue and vagabond, malicious destruction of property, theft, and credit card: personate.
The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office said Carey's arrest stemmed from investigation that got under way on July 3, when a purse was reported stolen from a vehicle in the parking lot of Roaring Point Park in Nanticoke. Police said that during the incident, the suspect allegedly shattered the side window of the car to grab the purse.
Authorities said they later discovered that the victim's credit cards were being used at retail outlets in Salisbury.
As a result of the investigation, deputies said they identified Carey as the user of the credit cards.
Carey was arrested on July 7 and ordered held in the Wicomico County Detention Center in lieu of $25,000 bond.
