DOVER, Del.— Delaware State University announced their first baseman/pitcher Ryan Haas has earned honorable mention for the 2012 CollegeBaseballInsider.com Division I All-America Team after helping the Hornets tie a team record with 40 wins this season.
The 2012 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Player-of-the-Year junior from Bear, Del. was tops in the MEAC with a .360 average (73-for-203) this past season, leading the league and tying for 19th among all NCAA Division I players in doubles (0.40 per-game, 22 total). Haas was also tied for second in the MEAC in hits (73), third in on-base percentage (.468), and fifth in slugging percentage (.483) during the 2012 season.
Haas posted a 4-1 record and 3.65 earned run average pitching for the Hornets last season where pitching highlights included regular season victories over Delaware and Navy and a MEAC Tournament win over North Carolina A&T. Haas is one of four DSU players to be named MEAC Player-of-the-Year, joining 1999 recipient Mark Circo, 2009 recipient Ross Babineaux, and 2011 recipient Scott Davis who was also a 2011 CollegeBaseballInsder.com Division I All-America Honorable Mention.
Haas helped lead Delaware State to the 2012 MEAC North title and an appearance in the league tournament championship game.
