SALISBURY, Md.— Police arrested a Salisbury man late Thursday night for cocaine possession and related charges.
Salisbury police said officers were on patrol in the 600 block of East Railroad Avenue around 11 p.m., when they saw a group of people standing outside a home and smelled a strong odor of burning marijuana coming from the area of the group.
Officers said when they got out of the car to investigate, 37-year-old Emmanuel L. Jones started to quickly leave the area but was apprehended by police before he was able to enter a home. According to investigators, Jones smelled strongly of marijuana and became irate when officers questioned him.
Authorities said Jones yelled at the officers and continued to be disorderly after police asked him to calm down and be quiet. Police arrested Jones and a search incident to arrest found suspected crack cocaine in sufficient quantity to indicate distribution, a quantity of suspected marijuana, and related paraphernalia.
Jones was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, two counts of possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia, and failure to obey a lawful order.
Jones was released on $15,000 bond.
