DOVER, Del.- Amazon.com is set to open a new warehouse in Middletown, Del., this fall. The new warehouse means new jobs and the online retailer is holding a job fair on Saturday.
Katherine Watson has been out of work since February. She used to work in home health care but now said any job that pays the bills will do.
"Whatever they tell me to do, really that's what I'm looking for," she said. "Whatever job position I can fulfill, I can do."
The Amazon warehouse is still under construction but she hopes to be one of the lucky 850 to land a job with the company.
"It's hard, it's really really hard," she said. "It's really hard trying and staying with relatives because with no job I can't pay for the electric, I can't pay for the rent. I can't do anything really."
Watson is not alone in her struggle.
Bruce Logan has been out of work for more than three years and is trying to get a job with Amazon.
"It's a day to day struggle. If it wasn't for family members I don't know how I'd make it," he said.
The Amazon job fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Embassy Suites in Newark, Del., on Saturday.
