CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP)- A former Fluvanna County prep soccer player has been convicted of charges that she bit an opponent during a game.
Media outlets report that 18-year-old Katrina Ditta received a suspended sentence Monday after a judge found her guilty of misdemeanor assault.
Ditta graduated in June from Fluvanna County High School, where she was a member of the girl's soccer team.
Ditta was accused of biting Western Albemarle High School player Christine Domecq during a semifinal conference tournament game on May 23. Ditta denied the charges.
Albemarle Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court Judge Richard E. Moore said he didn't find any reason to believe Domecq lied when she testified that Ditta bit her.
