Man Charged in 2007 Delaware Killing

Posted:

DOVER, Del. (AP) - A Delaware grand jury has indicted a man in a 2007 shooting at a mobile home park near Newark.

Officials said Friday that 25-year-old Jason Slaughter is charged with murder in the killing of 22-year-old Christopher Masters. Slaughter was found outside Masters' home suffering from a gunshot wound. He told police he had been shot during a home invasion.

Officials said Slaughter's story was inconsistent with the evidence, but he was never arrested.

But two years ago, Georgia police contacted Delaware authorities after charging Slaughter and his wife in a fatal shooting in that state. Investigators found that Slaughter had life insurance policies on both the Georgia and Delaware shooting victims naming Slaughter as the beneficiary.

Slaughter is awaiting trial in Georgia, after which he could face extradition to Delaware.
