SALISBURY, Md. - The United States Specialty Sports Association announced Monday that it would be returning to Salisbury to host the 2013 Softball World Series. Local officials said the tournament brings about $12 million to Wicomico County and surrounding areas.
USSSA Vice President Bill Dowell said it was an easy decision to make Salisbury the 2013 location.
"When you look at the infrastructure that the county has put together as far as recreation parks and tourism, the civic center and then add to that the hotel support, the restaurant and local business support [and] the sponsorships--it was a no brainer," Dowell said.
Pat Scott, member of the Local Owner Restaurant Associatio, said LORA is looking forward to the seventh straight year of hosting the event.
"We were happy to participate and we just heard they are going to come back next year and we are elated over that," Scott said. "We as a restaurant group are glad to give back to the community and glad to welcome new business with open arms."
