SALISBURY, Md.— Salisbury University has been selected as a 2012-2013 College of Distinction, officials announced Tuesday.
Salisbury is continuing to provide students with the highest level of undergraduate education, College of Distinction founder Wes Creel said. He noted the university's ongoing commitment to the Four Distinctions, which include engaged students, great teaching, vibrant communities and successful outcomes.
"I'm pleased that Salisbury University is again recognized among Colleges of Distinction nationwide," said SU President Janet Dudley-Eshbach. "Opportunities for research and internships enrich our excellent academic program. Students earn prestigious honors, such as the Fulbright Fellowship, and many choose to study abroad or volunteer in the local community. Award-winning faculty and staff also model excellence. Our reputation as a Maryland University of National Distinction continues to grow."
The Colleges of Distinction website, started 10 years ago, helps young people and their families and counselors find campuses that are right for them. According to Creel, included institutions are dedicated to helping students grow and learn how to succeed for the rest of their lives.
Last fall, SU was named one of U.S. News & World Report's Top Public Regional Universities in the North for the 15th consecutive year and was among The Princeton Review's Best 376 Colleges for the 13th consecutive year. The campus is also consistently one of Kiplinger's Top 100 "Best Values" public colleges.
