BALTIMORE (July 23, 2012) -- The Grand Prix of Baltimore, scheduled for Labor Day weekend, August 31- September 2,
is looking for approximately 800 volunteers to assist with the planning
and production of the event. Volunteers will have a behind-the-scenes
view of the Grand Prix, while being ambassadors for the event and the
city of Baltimore. Last year's event drew a diverse group of volunteers
from across the Mid-Atlantic region and from as far away as California.
Among
the many areas where volunteers are needed include: accessibility
ambassadors, event ceremonies, credentials, fan fun zones, guest
services, hospitality, media center, office services, ticket takers,
track services, transportation, ushers and volunteer services.
Volunteers with race week assignments will be asked to commit to a minimum of three6.5-hour shifts, with at least one shift on Sunday, Sept. 2.
Some areas require volunteer support as much as three weeks before the
race and one week after, which will require at least a 25-hour
commitment.
Detailed
information, including job descriptions, FAQs, as well as an online form
or downloadable application can be found in the Volunteer section of
the official event website at: www.RaceOnBaltimore.com, via email at volunteers@andrettisportsmarketing.com or by calling 443-759-4208.
There
is a $10 annual application fee, which makes the volunteer eligible for
a series of benefits, including a race credential for event admission
and paddock area access for all three days, Grand Prix of Baltimore
volunteer uniform (hat, shirt and commemorative lapel pin), continental
breakfast and lunch as well as soft drinks and water each day,
complimentary parking with free shuttle, 10 percent discount on tickets
to the event and official event merchandise, invitations to social
events before and after the Grand Prix, and the opportunity to enjoy all
aspects of the event when off-duty.
All volunteers must be 16 years of age or older. (If under 18, volunteers must be accompanied by an adult relative.)
More than 100,000 spectators are expected to attend the three-day Grand Prix of Baltimore, as the cars and stars of the American Le Mans Series and the IZOD IndyCar Series take-on the 12-turn, 2-mile course through downtown Baltimore and along the Inner Harbor. Fans can order tickets or get more event details at: www.RaceOnBaltimore.com, or at all Ticketmaster outlets.
