Federal Government to Revamp Veteran Employment Program

Updated:

HARRINGTON, Del.- A remodeled program for military service members attempting to re-enter the work force is under way.  President Barack Obama on Monday announced "Transition GPS" in a speech.

About 800,000 veterans are currently looking for work nationwide, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. And according to those same numbers, about one fourth of them are post 9/11 vets.

Transition GPS is a new form of the old Transition Assistance Program.  It is expected to be fully integrated by the end of 2013.
