MILFORD, Del.- A Milford man is behind bars following accusations that he tried to rob someone whose vehicle had broken down near the suspect's home.

Justin Topolski, 31, is charged with attempted first-degree robbery, two counts of menacing and terroristic threatening.

Milford police said that on July 24, officers responded to a possible armed robbery that had occurred in the area of New and Pine streets. When officers arrived on the scene, they made contact with two people who were walking on the roadway.

According to police, an investigation revealed that a vehicle the 25-year-old victim was driving had broken down. Investigators said Topolski observed this and went out of his house on Pine Street and approached the driver. Police said the suspect then demanded money from the driver and implied that he was armed with a handgun and that he would shoot the victim. The 25-year-old then ran from the suspect, leaving the vehicle behind. Authorities said Topolski then told the other victim, a 24-year-old man, that he was going to shoot him too.

Police said that the suspect did not get any money and there were no injuries. Police later took Topolski into custody in the area of Pine Street.

Following his arrest on the aforementioned charges, Topolski was ordered held in the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $5,300 secured bond.
