








Salisbury, Md. –
For a second straight night, the Lakewood BlueClaws (21-18) scored early
and used solid pitching to defeat the Delmarva Shorebirds (15-22) 9-1
on Tuesday night at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.
Lakewood sprinted to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a two-run homer to right field by Kelly Dugan, his tenth of the season.
The
BlueClaws added a run in the fourth and three more in the fifth to
build a 6-0 lead. In the fifth inning, Maikel Franco lined a two run
homer to left field.
The
Shorebirds only run of the night came in the fifth inning on a solo
homer to left field by Jason Esposito, his fifth of the season.
Lakewood starter Moises Rivas allowed five hits and one run over 5.2 innings to earn the win.
The BlueClaws added three runs in the seventh and held the Shorebirds in check the remainder of the night.
Shorebirds starter Miguel Chalas took the loss over 4.2 innings pitched. He surrendered eight hits and five earned runs.
Eric
Wooten followed Chalas and gave up four hits and two earned runs over
2.1 innings. Jesse Beal was perfect over the final two innings.
Michael Ohlman and Jason Esposito each went 2-for-4 for Delmarva.
