Neil PrescottWASHINGTON (AP) - Maryland authorities are announcing charges against a man accused of threatening to shoot up his workplace and identifying himself as "a joker."
Twenty-eight-year-old Neil E. Prescott of Crofton was taken into custody last Friday after the threats were reported to police. He has been receiving an emergency psychiatric evaluation at a hospital. Prince George's County police say they found several thousand rounds of ammunition and a cache of about two dozen weapons, including semi-automatic rifles and pistols, in his apartment.
Two of his friends told The Associated Press that they couldn't imagine Prescott intended for the comments to be taken seriously.
The news conference is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the county courthouse.
