SAXIS, Va.- Several watermen told WBOC they were working on their boats when at least one waterspout formed near Saxis on Wednesday.

"It came down out of the clouds, like a big wide funnel, went right down to the water," said Raymond Martin, who came off the water after the first waterspout touched down. "I wouldn't want to be right there where it was picking water up."

Jimmy Dennis told WBOC more than one waterspout formed in the bay. Dennis said he is relieved the waterspouts did not come on shore.

"There's nowhere around here to go if something like that is to come," Dennis said. "If a tornado comes through here, we've got nowhere to go."
