WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Wilmington is hoping to encourage residents to recycle more with a sweepstakes offering prizes including free groceries and gift cards.
The three-month program began this week offering rewards points based on how much participants recycle. Trucks weigh the amount being recycled when they pick up bar-coded containers given to participants in the program.
City officials say the grand prize in the sweepstakes is $5,000 in groceries. Three people will win DART transit passes worth up to $864 and nine others will win $500 in groceries.
