COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Matt Taylor was named the new Assistant Director of Media Relations at the University of Maryland Thursday.
Taylor has spent the last four years working in the NFL, having spent three seasons with the Washington Redskins and the most recent season with the Indianapolis Colts. Taylor spent time in the area while with the Redskins, and has ties to the football program and coach Randy Edsall.
With the Redskins, he served as liason between the team and local and national media members. He also handled publicity for community events and worked on the NFL's Public Relations Team for Super Bowls XLIV, XLV, and XLVI.
As part of the Colts organization, Taylor arranged interviews for players and coaches, in addition to preparing team members for media appearances.
Deputy athletic director Nate Pine is looking forward to Taylor's arrival.
"We are pleased to welcome Matt back to the area and excited to have someone with his experience and expertise."
