FELTON, Del.- Delaware State Police on Friday arrested two people in connection with a late July shooting near Felton that left a man critically injured.

Bruce D. MaConnell, 28, of Smyrna, and Brenda M. McMillan, 31, of Felton, are each charged with first-degree reckless endangering, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and first-degree conspiracy.

The charges stem from an incident alleged to have occurred the evening of Friday, July 27. Investigators said that shortly after 9 p.m., a 32-year-old victim was riding in a vehicle with two other people on Holly Spring Road in Felton when he was shot by a small caliber handgun. The victim then jumped out of the vehicle and ran into a cornfield before receiving help at a nearby home. He was then transported by EMS to Kent General Hospital and later flown to Christiana Hospital where he is currently listed in critical but stable condition.

Troopers developed MacConnell and McMillan as the suspects in the shooting. The two, who police identified as boyfriend and girlfriend, were arrested Friday morning after McMillan was located in the Meadowbrook Acres Development in Magnolia.

Both suspects were charged with the aforementioned offenses, with MacConnell additionally charged with resisting arrest after troopers said he fled from them from a house in Dover on July 28 while they were investigating the shooting.

MacConnell is being held in the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $102,500 secured bail. McMillan is being held in the Delores J. Baylor Women's Correctional Institution on $100,000 secured bail.
