Earl BradleyLEWES, Del. (AP)- A Delaware hospital that once employed a pediatrician now serving multiple life sentences for raping patients will pay millions of dollars to settle a class action lawsuit.
Financial details of the agreement are currently confidential, but sources familiar with the negotiations said that Beebe Medical Center, mostly through its insurers, has agreed to pay more than $100 million.
The Lewes hospital investigated Earl Bradley in 1996 after a nurse reported inappropriate exams, but Bradley was cleared of any wrongdoing. He resigned as an employee but was allowed to treat patients there until he was arrested in December 2009.
A lawyer for the child victims says once an agreement is reached with all defendants, monetary terms will be disclosed publicly.
