The squad ran the PRT (Physical Readiness Test) on Tuesday in an average time of 8:07, about 25 seconds better than the 2011 squad, then kicked off preseason practice on Wednesday and Thursday with a pair of workouts. The team worked out for an hour in the morning sessions, before a two-hour practice on both days. The practices are leading up to the Midshipmen's first game of the season, an August 25 match at No. 23-ranked Old Dominion.
The 2012 squad is looking to continue the momentum started from the 2011 campaign, which saw the Midshipmen advance to their first Patriot League Tournament since 2001.
The Navy men's soccer team returns 16 letterwinners and eight starters from last year's squad that posted a 7-7-5 overall record. The Midshipmen finished fourth in last year's Patriot League race and tied the regular-season champ American, 0-0, before falling in penalty kicks in the Patriot League Tournament semifinals.
