2 Struck by Car While Crossing Street in Chester

CHESTER, Md.– Maryland State Police say two pedestrians were struck by a car while crossing a street in Chester late Monday night.

Troopers said that shortly before 10 p.m., a 2005 BMW was traveling east on Route 18 east of Route 552 when it hit two pedestrians crossing the street outside of a crosswalk. The victims were identified as 22-year-old Courtney Dawn Sherwood of North East,  and 28-year-old Chad Braden Humphries of Chester.

Police said Humphries and Sherwood were both flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

The driver of the BMW was identified as Lois Diane Miller of Queenstown. Charges are pending in connection with the crash, according to police.
