WOODSIDE, Del.- It may be summer but Delaware Department of Transportation drivers are already practicing for winter.
Drivers took part in an obstacle course that mimics winter roads. The competition also decided which drivers would go to the Truck Roadeo in Colorado this fall.
Alan Jefferson qualified for this year's national competition; he has also won in years past.
He says the obstacle course helps him get ready for the winter season.
"This helps out too, like trying to miss the mailboxes instead of hitting the mailboxes," he said. "The hardest part for me is backing out the little cones and getting to the loading dock, other than that, it's not too bad."
DelDOT has been competing in the Truck Roadeo since 1996.
