REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.- Authorities say a man armed with a crowbar who tried to rob a Rehoboth Beach gas station ended up empty-handed after a clerk threw him out of the business early Thursday morning.
Delaware State Police said the incident occurred at around 6:30 a.m., when an unknown suspect entered the Exxon gas station at 18904 Coastal Highway and confronted the 35-year-old female clerk. Troopers said the suspect displayed a small crowbar and demanded money, and even attempted to force his way behind the sales counter where the cash register is located. Police said the victim did not comply and pushed the suspect, ultimately forcing him out of the business. The suspect then ran out of the store empty-handed and was last seen heading toward Truitts Avenue. There were no reported injuries.
The suspect was described as a white male, blond hair and wearing glasses. He was last wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and khaki shorts.
