One Taken to Hospital After Seaford Fire

SEAFORD, Del.- Authorities say a Thursday night fire caused thousands of dollars in damage to a Seaford home.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office reports that the blaze occurred shortly after 9 p.m. at a home on the 100 block of Fourth Street.

The Seaford Fire Department responded to the scene and was assisted by the Blades Fire Department.

The home was occupied at the time of the fire, according to investigators. The victim was transported to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital for observation.  Damages have been estimated at $25,000.

Investigators said they have determined that the fire originated in the living room and was caused by smoking materials igniting nearby combustibles.
