SALISBURY, Md.- Authorities say two people were taken to the hospital after being attacked over the weekend in Salisbury.

Salisbury police said that at around 9:40 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to a reported assault that had just occurred on the 700 block of Smith Street. When officers arrived on the scene, they located two victims suffering from significant lacerations. They were transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center.

Investigators determined that the victims were sitting outside when they were approached by two unidentified suspects. Police said the suspects demanded money from the victims, which resulted in a struggle, during which time the victims were cut with an edged weapon. The suspects then ran away.

Police said the suspects were described only as a black male and a black female.
