








ROCHESTER, N.Y.– The Salisbury University football team has been chosen to repeat as Empire 8 Athletic Conference football champion in a vote of league head coaches announced on Monday.
Salisbury, which received seven first-place votes in the preseason poll and 49 points overall, went 7-0 in its first season in the league in 2011 and 11-2 overall on the way to an appearance in the NCAA quarterfinals. St. John Fisher College earned the remaining first-place vote and 43 points to finish second in the poll. Alfred University (37), Ithaca College (28), Buffalo State College (22), Utica College (21), Frostburg State University (14) and Hartwick College (seven) rounded out the voting.
The Sea Gulls open Empire 8 play at conference newcomer Buffalo State on Sept. 29 at noon, and the regular season at Christopher Newport University Sept. 1 at 7 p.m.
