SALISBURY, Md.- At the request of Wicomico County Executive Richard Pollitt, the County Council has lifted a burn ban that has been in effect since July 5.
Pollitt asked for the ban to be lifted following a recommendation by his Burn Ban Advisory Committee, which includes representatives of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, the Wicomico Departments of Health, Emergency Services, Planning and Zoning, volunteer fire services, a local meteorologist and a National Weather Service representative.
Although the ban has been lifted, Pollitt is reminding citizens to be responsible when conducting open air burnings.
