DELMAR, Md. - Organizers of the inaugural concert weekend at The Amphitheater at Heron Ponds in Delmar said Friday morning they are ready for a crowd. The venue opened Friday night with a free concert of 80s music. American Idol alumna Kellie Pickler is the headline act Saturday night.

Concert-goers can bring blankets and chairs, but are not allowed to bring in coolers or outside food and beverages. Wine, beer, non-alcoholic drinks and food will be available for purchase within the gates. Parking is free, and volunteers will direct drivers to open parking spots.

Doug Marshall, owner of The Amphitheater at Heron Ponds, told WBOC he anticipated roughly 1,500 to 2,000 people at Friday's concert, and is hoping for 3,000 concert-goers on Saturday. Marshall said safety and security is a top priority this weekend, and that they will be paying for state, county and local police to assist.

"You'll see a sizable show of security force when you walk in the gates," Marshall said. "This is a Marshall-funded event. This is not a public-funded event. So yes, we're paying a lot of people a lot of money."
