CLAYMONT, Del. (AP) - New Castle County Police have arrested a man they say beat his pregnant girlfriend and threatened her with a baseball bat.
Thirty-two-year-old James Davis III of Claymont is charged with assault and aggravated menacing. He is being held on $15,001 cash bail.
Police say about 11:30 p.m. Friday, Davis returned to his apartment after an argument with his girlfriend, lifted her off the floor by her neck and threw her into a wall. Officers say Davis punched and kicked the woman, then grabbed a metal baseball bat and made a threatening motion toward her.
The girlfriend was treated at Christiana Hospital.
