SALISBURY, Md.- The Maryland State Highway Administration said the detour at Isabella and Mill streets begins on Tuesday, Sept. 4, and the street closure will remain in effect for three weeks until the last week of September.
The Isabella Street road closure and detour will allow the contractor to install a drainage pipe under the railroad track crossing at Mill Street, according to the SHA.
Throughout the three-week street closure access to residents and businesses on Isabella Street will remain open and access will be provided to homes and businesses in the project areas by establishing local detours, the SHA said. Access to businesses located on Mill Street will be available at all times to motorists traveling from U.S. Route 50. The SHA said it will use detour signs, cones and barrels to guide motorists through the work zone.
Once the new drainage pipes are installed along West Isabella Street, Park Avenue and William Street, the storm water improvements will continue for about 18 months along both sides of US 13 Business to north of London Avenue, according to the SHA. The agency said it is working with the City of Salisbury to ensure there is minimal disruption of public utilities to property owners.
